The prehistoric snakes ate dinosaurs

The surprising image that you see on these lines is, obviously, a reconstruction, but it allows to do to us an idea of how there could be a scene that till now was lacking scientific evidences. The find of a fossil of 67 million years in the Indian Gujarat pronvicia has turned into the first test of which some prehistoric snakes, as the Sanejeh Indicus – patrolling thanks to this important find – was had by them between his diet to some dinosaurs. At least, to the smallest copies of certain species.

The open fossils "recorded" for the posterity in several rock fragments, show the bones of a snake of approximately three meters and a half of length, as well as to the new-born baby of a saurópodo, and two eggs of the same species, still without incubating. Thanks to this find, the paleontologists have managed to read a surprising scene: 67 million years ago, the snake would have got in the dinosaurs nest to devour the eggs. Nevertheless, before the banquet could happen, a landslide of grounds produced by strong rains ended up by burying the predator and his preys, which would end fossilized and turned in proof of this "gastronomic" custom of the prehistoric snakes.

The results of this showy study will see the light in the copy of this week of the magazine PLoS Biology, as there have announced National Geographic News and other means of science popularization.

Our beautiful blue "marble"

On December 7, 1972, the crew of the Apollo 17 received the most beautiful photo of our planet from a distance of approximately 29.000 kilometers. In the snapshot he emphasizes our beautiful “blue balloon” on the black fund of the cosmos. Because of the distance to which they were of the Earth, the American astronauts were perceiving our planet with a size similar to that of a small marble, for what since then the famous image happened to be known as “the blue marble” (on these lines).

Now, 38 years after that snapshot, the NASA has published new photos of our planet that suppose an update of the ancient “Blue marble”. In particular, it has been the investigators of the Center of Spatial Flight Goddard of the NASA who, using thousands of images received by a satellite placed to 700 kilometers of the terrestrial surface, have created the photos of the Earth with the most trustworthy color received up to the date. The initiative is part of a project baptized like Blue Marble Next Generation (Blue Marble New Generation), who has made use of the characteristics of the sensor present MODIS in the satellites Aqua and Terra of the NASA. We leave you with the images, really beautiful and spectacular. Undoubtedly, they have a color much more alive than the original "marble". As always, you can click in them to see them to major resolution. Also we enclose an animation realized from the photos.

The definitive hybrid vehicle

An imaginative mechanic neozelandés has created an ingenious hybrid vehicle capable of moving for ground, water and air. Rudy Heeman – this way he is called the inventor – has the intention of selling his showy vehicle across Internet. We leave to you a video realized by the BBC on the device. We can only say: that us morirmos for having one!

A spectacle of flying lights

A team of the prestigious MIT (Technological institute of Massachusetts) has made public recently one of his most surprising and spectacular projects. The investigators of SENSEable City Laboratory, in collaboration with the ARES Lab, both belonging to the MIT, has designed an ingenious system baptized like Flyfire, which tries to exploit the capacities of a few tiny provided helicopters of LEDs that they would serve to create exhibitions and audio-visual demonstrations highly impactantes.

The tiny helicopters controlled with a technology developed in the ARES Laboratory, would be capable of moving of form synchronized in the air, creating images of even photographic quality in real-time. It turns out to be a little difficult to explain, so the best thing is that you throw a glance to the following video, in which there are appreciated clearly the innumerable possibilities of this fantastic idea. Let's hope that the project should come to good end and soon let's be able to enjoy spectacles and applications created by these tiny and luminous helicopters.
